The Dales by bus and train

The beautiful countryside of the Dales is easily accessible from West Yorkshire by bus and train

Timetable

How to get there

There are many ways to access the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales by public transport from West Yorkshire.

Good bus and train services run to several towns on the edge of the Dales from where daily buses run to the main towns, villages and tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales.

These are supplemented by buses direct from West Yorkshire into the heart of the Dales at weekends with extra services operating during the summer months from around Easter onwards. The start of these services may be delayed in 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Tickets and passes

Dales Rover tickets offer unlimited travel on most DalesBus services on Sundays, and also on some connecting buses. They can be bought from the driver.

MCards loaded with weekly or longer period tickets are valid on Sundays throughout all DalesBus services from/to West Yorkshire – for the winter season that is services 873, 874 and 884.

English National Concessionary Senior and Disabled passes can be used for free travel on DalesBus services on off-peak buses on Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
