Cycle to Work scheme 

Ask your employer about joining the Cycle to Work scheme where you can get a loan of up to £1,000 to buy a new bike or cycling equipment. Normally, hire payments are sacrificed from your gross monthly salary, these payments are not subject to income tax and National Insurance Contributions (NICs). 

Some employers make their own arrangements, but there are a number of service providers as well.

Bike Friendly Business Accreditation Scheme

Scheme for organisations aspiring to be more bike friendly!

Through the Bike Friendly Business scheme your company will get:

  • an appraisal of your existing facilities and policies
  • a tailored report highlighting what you do well, and how you might improve
  • access to a potential grant to support you in your ambitions to be more bike friendly.

Space is limited - only five businesses per quarter can be assessed.

Love to Ride

Love to Ride promotes and rewards cycling across West Yorkshire, including:

  • options to log journeys automatically via Moves, Strava and other similar apps.
  • automatic entry into both national and local prize draws for people who take part 
  • plaques and recognition for businesses who achieve the highest levels of participation 

Anyone can take part, it’s fun and completely free.

Leeds City Council and City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, together with West Yorkshire Combined Authority and other local partners have come together to deliver a programme of cycle improvements in the Leeds City Region. The programme is funded by the Department for Transport’s Cycle City Ambition Grant.

The project is called CityConnect

The Cycle Superhighway will provide connectivity with employment sites including those in east Bradford, areas of housing growth such as in east Leeds, key sites of economic regeneration, the two city centres, schools and hospitals, as well as other population centres.

The West Yorkshire Tour de France Legacy brings together providers of sport and physical activity, transport and health to improve and increase opportunities to participate in cycling through county-wide projects. 

Bike & Go

With bespoke cost plans to suit your business, and over 71 participating stations across the UK including Leeds, Bike & Go is the most flexible, affordable cycling schem available to business users.

Simply pay an agreed fee and your staff will be able to rent a bike from their chosen train station and take it anywhere they want, including business meetings.
