Could you make more journeys by bike and on foot?

Two-thirds of journeys in West Yorkshire are under five miles, which takes about 30 minutes by bike and did you know it only takes about 20 minutes to walk one mile?

Enabling increasing numbers of us to travel by bike and on foot is more important than ever, not only as we look to address the health, transport and economic challenges created by COVID-19, but also in helping us tackle some of the other challenges we face.

From connecting people across our region, to reducing air pollution and congestion, and combatting physical inactivity and obesity, we know getting more people cycling and walking has a vital role to play in making West Yorkshire a great place to live and work.

What’s more, travelling by bike or on foot can save you time and money, while also being an easy way to boost your activity levels.

In need of some further inspiration?  Read some of the stories from people across West Yorkshire who are already benefitting from travelling by bike and on foot.
