Industrial action

9 March 2018

Affecting Northern train services on Monday 26 and Thursday 29 March, 2018.

The RMT union has announced that its members working for Northern are planning to take industrial action on Monday 26 and Thursday 29 March, which is the day before Easter.

Visit Northern's website (opens in new tab).

On previous strike days, Northern has operated a reduced service between 7am and 7pm, with services on some routes finishing earlier. Services that do run are often busy.

Previously passengers have also been able to use tickets on Arriva Bus services (including Yorkshire Tiger) to make journeys they would otherwise have made by rail.

Customers are advised to use the National Rail Enquiries website (new window) for up-to-date train times on strike days.

People should also give themselves more time to travel and to consider whether their journey is absolutely necessary.

 Advice for travellers:

  • Allow extra time for your journey.
  • Public transport and roads are expected to to be busier than usual on the strike days.
  • Journeys are likely to take longer.

Re-think your journey and travel:
