Review of services 33 / 33A and X84

During July and August 2013 Metro and First commenced a review of services 33/33A and X84 to encourage greater use of the bus services along the A65 corridor and to and from the communities of Menston, Ilkley, Otley and Skipton.

The review included eight consultation sessions and we received over 600 responses both in person and via the online survey. All the responses were been logged and First have introduced some changed based on suggestions.  

One of the immediate changes First introduced in October 2013 was a revised timetable and journey extension of a service X84 journey which provided improved links to those attending Craven College.

In April 2014 First implemented the following further changes:

Service X84 journeys extend hourly from Skipton on Sundays and Bank Holidays with a slightly revised timetable providing improved links for visitors.

New service X33 operating between Leeds, Rawdon and Yeadon / Guiseley every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime. The service operates a loop via the Green in Guiseley with morning services operating the loop to Guiseley and then Yeadon. The journeys from Leeds after 1145 run in the opposite way around the loop to Yeadon then Guiseley. The new service X33 provides faster trips to and from Leeds.

First continue to monitor the performance of these services to make further improvements, such as, reliability in the evening peak and ways that they can ensure their buses are more evenly spaced.
