Keighley bus review

The Keighley Area Bus Network Review sought to examine Metro's expenditure on bus services in the Keighley area. The main aim was to maintain an effective bus network for the area at a lower cost to the local taxpayer. The bus services changed over the weekend of 28/29 April 2012.

Many bus services in Keighley are operated commercially by Transdev in Keighley, and these were not affected by Metro's review.

Keighley is served by a number of core bus services (read more about Keighley's Core Routes).

Consultation took place during September and October 2011 and we received a lot of comments which helped us make some changes to our proposals.

Main outcomes following consultation and tendering

  • A number of bus services changed operator. Services 708, 715, 716, 727, 728, 729 passed from Transdev in Keighley to TLC Travel and services 915-918 passed from Tyrer Bus to TLC Travel. Concessionary passes, MetroCards and MetroDay tickets continue to be valid on all these services.
  • Dalton Lane continues to be served. Dalton Lane is now served every 2 hours by the 729 service which also provides a direct bus service to Bingley.
  • Following feedback the 18:35 journey on service 710 (Keighley - Devonshire Street - Highfield Rd - Braithwaite Road -Laycock) was restored. Service 917 (evenings) rerouted via the 710 route.
  • Service 717 retimed to provide better coordination with Service 706 up Oakworth Road on evenings and Sundays.
  • Evening service 727 retimed to improve connections with trains at Bingley.
  • The 06:11 journey on service 760 (Greengates - Keighley Bus Station) restored (Monday to Friday).
  • An additional morning peak journey has been introduced on service 500 which arrives at Hebden Bridge Station at 08:55.
  • Transdev in Keighley also made a number of changes to the bus services they operate on a commercial basis as a result of the bus network review.
