Elland / Brighouse Bus Services Review

The Elland /Brighouse Bus Network Review sought to examine Metro’s expenditure on bus services in the Elland / Brighouse area. The main aim was to maintain an effective bus network for the District at a lower cost to the local taxpayer. The bus services changed over the weekend of 26/27 April 2014.

Consultation took place during October and November 2013 and we received a lot of comments which helped us make some changes to our proposals.

Main outcomes following consultation and tendering are as follows:-

Service 258 Clifton – Brighouse – Rastrick – Elland

This service would no longer serve Clifton. Clifton will continue to be served by the 256/259.

The service would run every 2 hours between Brighouse – Rastrick - Elland.

The departure time from Brighouse was altered to accommodate a connection with the 259 from Clifton, enabling passengers from Clifton to change onto the 257/258 for journeys to Tesco and/or Rastrick. The 573 provides a connection for inbound passengers travelling from Rastrick to Clifton.

Service 257 Brighouse – Woodhouse - Toothill Bank – Rastrick – Elland

This new service operates via Brighouse – Woodhouse - Toothill Bank – Rastrick – Elland  every 2 hours keeping an hourly link between Brighouse and Rastrick with service 258. The service also provides a direct link from Woodhouse to Tesco, Brighouse.

  Service 384 Huddersfield – Fixby – Brighouse

This service no longer serves Woodhouse and Brighouse.  Passengers wishing to travel between Woodhouse and Brighouse are able to do so via Service 257.  Passengers wishing to travel between Woodhouse and Huddersfield need to change in Brighouse.  This service works with the 385 to provide an hourly service.

Service 385 Huddersfield – Fartown Circular

This service is combined with service 384 at Asda Brackenhall to provide an hourly service.   Each service operates the following circular route on alternate hours.

Service E5 Elland – Blackley – Jagger Green

Service E6 Elland – Exley
