How Do I Use Yournextbus?

Three easy ways to access the information

It's simple. There are three ways to access the bus information. These are by text message, by WAP on your mobile phone, and on the Metro website.

1. Text Message

  • Create a text message, and simply enter the 8 digit bus stop number that you see on your bus stop. This number will start with 450. Where's my bus stop number?

Create a text message, and enter your 8-digit bus stop number

  • Send the text to 63876 (Why 63876? because it spells METRO on the keypad!)

Send the message to 63876 (which spells Metro on the phone's keypad)

  • You will get a reply within about 30 seconds which will tell you the times for the next few buses from the stop you enquired about. Real time predictions are shown in minutes (e.g. 3 mins), and scheduled times are shown as a 24hr clock (e.g. 14:51.) Learn more about the information on your text

A text showing bus departure times should be returned within around 30 seconds

Once you've got the hang of it, you can try out some of the service's more advanced features.

  • Your text to us is charged at your standard outbound rate, and our reply to you is charged at no more than 12p. These costs are charged by the mobile phone operators and Metro does not take any revenue from this system.

2. WAP/PDA

  • WAP is basically a version of the internet for your mobile phone. It stands for Wireless Application Protocol, but it's not as complicated as it sounds. If your phone is WAP enabled, just open your phone's browser (probably under 'Internet' or 'Web' in your phone's menu) and enter www.wymetro.com. Once this page has loaded, choose the yournextbus option from the menu.

When using WAP, the simplest way is to enter your 8-digit bus stop number

When using WAP, your results screen will refresh every 60 seconds - counting down until the arrival of your bus

  • The information displayed will refresh every 60 seconds so it is constantly giving you live updates of the progress of your bus.
  • WAP is much cheaper than texting, it will only cost you around 2p per refresh depending on your tariff.
  • You can also access this information using your PDA, simply visit www.wymetro.com, choose 'Find Your Next Bus' then follow the on-screen instructions.

Yournextbus can be accessed using your PDA, simply visit www.wymetro.com and choose 'Find Your Next Bus'

  • When using your PDA, choose the 'text only' version of the Metro website to make it easier to navigate around.

  • Whenever you're at www.wymetro.com, look out for the Find Your Next Bus button in the top right hand corner of every screenEnter your 8 digit bus stop number and choose 'Go'
  • A pop-up box will appear, giving you information about the next few departures from the stop you enquired about. Learn more about the information displayed in the pop-up box.
  • If you have a pop-up blocker on your computer, hold down the Ctrl key when you click 'Go' and the pop-up will appear.
  • If you don't know your bus stop number, you can find it by entering your service number, your postcode, or by using a map.
