  • Bus and train services to special events
    There are often special services, such as shuttle buses, to major events hosted in West Yorkshire.   Please note that unless otherwise stated pre-paid tickets such as MetroDay, HalfMetroDay, MCard, MetroCard, DayRover and PlusBus tickets, and also concessionary fares are not accepted on special event bus services.

    Great Yorkshire Show, Harrogate - Tuesday 9, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 July 2013

    The Great Yorkshire Show (external website, opens in a  new window) takes place on Tuesday 9, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 July.

    In addition to the regular Leeds - Harrogate - York rail service, Northern will be running additional services and extending others as follows:

    • 0853 Leeds to Harrogate calling at Hornbeam Park 0916 and Harrogate at 0919.
    • 0943 York to Hornbeam Park calling at Poppleton 0948, Hammerton 0955, Cattal, 0958, Knaresborough 1012, Starbeck 1016, Harrogate 1024 and Hornbeam Park 1026.
    • 1013 Leeds to Harrogate calling at Burley Park 1017, Headingley 1020, Horsforth 1026, Weeton 1034, Pannal 1039, Hornbeam Park 1045 and Harrogate 1051.
    • 1143 Leeds to Harrogate calling at Burley Park 1147, Headingley 1150, Horsforth 1156, Weeton 1204, Pannal 1209, Hornbeam Park 1215 and Harrogate 1221.
    • The 1744 Leeds to Knaresborough service will be extended through to York calling at Cattal 1846, Hammerton 1851, Poppleton 1918 and York 1923.

    A free shuttle bus service runs between Harrogate Bus Station and the Great Yorkshire Showground, operated by Transdev in Harrogate (external website, opens in a new window), running every 20 minutes as follows

    • Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 July 2013 from 0720 until 2000.
    • Thursday 11 July 2013 from 0720 until 1900.
      Please note that the buses used on the shuttle service are not low floor and wheelchair access is limited.

    Transdev’s services 770 and 771 between Leeds, Wetherby and Harrogate and also Connexionsbuses (external website, opens in a new window) service X70 also pass near to the showground.

    Cocoon in the Park, Temple Newsam, Leeds - Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July 2013

     

    To help you get to and from Cocoon in the Park (external website, opens in a new window) at Temple Newsam, Geldard's (external website, opens in a new window) are running an express shuttle bus service direct from Leeds City Centre, on Saturday 13 July and Sunday 14 July as shown below.

    From Leeds

    • Buses depart from Leeds Park Row, bus stop P3,  at 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600 and 1700.

    From Temple Newsam

    • Buses depart from Temple Newsam at 1030, 1130, 1230, 1330, 1430, 1530, 1630, 1730 and then no service until 2100 then 2110 and every 10 minutes until 0030.

    Prices

    Prices are £3.50 return and £2.00 single.

    Leeds Festival, Bramham Park, - Leeds Wednesday 21 until Monday 26 August 2013

    For the full Leeds Festival line-up, and other useful information visit the Leeds Festival website (opens in a new window).

     

    The festival takes places from Friday 23 until Sunday 25 August 2013, however shuttle bus service commence from Bramham Park serving Leeds, Seacroft and York on Wednesday 21 August running until Monday 26 August.

     

    We are currently putting together our handy travel guide for the Leeds Festival, however you can find out more about the shuttle bus services, including ‘early-bird’ discount package on the dedicated Leeds Festival Shuttle Bus website (opens in a new window).

     

    If you are travelling by train to Leeds or York for the Festival, did you know you can buy combined rail and bus tickets? All you have to do is buy a shuttle bus ticket alongside your train ticket. You can do this online through the First TransPennine Express website (opens in a new window) - just select another journey from Leeds or York stations to Leeds Fest Bus. When you arrive at Leeds or York, head to the shuttle bus departure point and exchange your Leeds Fest Bus rail ticket for a shuttle bus ticket. You must exchange your rail ticket before travelling on the shuttle buses.

    Elland Road sports specials

    First runs match services between Leeds city centre and Elland Road stadium.

     

    A shuttle bus service, R2, departs from Sovereign Street 90 minutes before kick-off and runs at frequent intervals. At the end of the match a frequent service will operate to bring you back.

    Prices are £2.50 return for adults and £1.25 return for children.

     

    A further service, R3, departs from Thornbury Barracks and Pudsey to Elland Road 65 minutes before kick-off, serving Galloway Lane, Waterloo Road, Upper Moor, Chapeltown, Church Lane, Lowtown, Swinnow Road and the Ring Road.

    Prices are £1.70 single fare for all customers.

     

    The R2 Elland Road service may also run at other times when there are events held at Elland Road.
