The Dales by bus and train

Summer DalesBus timetable from 8 April 2024 (PDF opens in a new window)

How to get there

There are many ways to access the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales by public transport from West Yorkshire.

Good bus and train services run to several towns on the edge of the Dales from where daily buses run to the main towns, villages and tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale National Landscape.

These are supplemented by buses direct from Leeds and Bradford into the heart of the Dales at weekends with extra DalesBus services running during the summer months (dates vary).

Tickets and passes

As part of the national £2 single fare cap offer most bus fares are capped at £2 for a single journey – this includes all DalesBus services from/to West Yorkshire.

Dales Rover tickets offer unlimited travel on all DalesBus services on Sundays, and also on many connecting buses. They can be bought from the driver.

MCards loaded with weekly or longer period tickets are valid on weekend DalesBus services from/to West Yorkshire – for the summer season that is services 74, 820, 821, 864, 866, 873, 874, 875 and 876.

English National Concessionary Senior and Disabled passes can be used for free travel on most summer DalesBus services (including all services from/to West Yorkshire) on off-peak buses on Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
