![MetroCard holders can now bring a friend on the bus for just £1 at weekends.]()
West Yorkshire's bus operators have come up with a new
'friendbus' MetroCard +1 weekend deal for MetroCard holders.
With friendbus, anyone with a Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly or
Annual MetroCard can take a friend with them for a flat single fare
of £1 on any West Yorkshire bus service on Saturdays and
Sundays. The offer starts on Saturday 7 January and lasts up to and
including Sunday 1 April.
To take advantage of the friendbus offer, all MetroCard holders
need to do when they board the bus is show their valid MetroCard to
the driver, ask for a 'MetroCard+1' ticket and pay £1.00 for
their companion. The driver will issue a 'MetroCard +1' ticket to
the companion. As the +1 ticket is only a single journey ticket,
the above will need to be repeated for any subsequent journey
undertaken.
Great value
"Our customers always tell us what great value their MetroCards
give them so we thought it only right they get chance to share the
benefits with this offer," said First's Richard Soper, Chair of
West Yorkshire Ticketing Company.
"Travelling by bus is the sociable way to get from A to B, as
well as being environmentally responsible, so between now and the
end of March I would urge people to find a friend with a MetroCard,
and hitch a ride!"
