Overall winner is Pauline Marshall from Yeadon with her shot, ‘Fishing boat in evening light', which was taken in Morecambe Bay.
Pauline is a keen photographer and a member of the Aireborough Camera Club. Pauline's prize, a collectors' edition Hornby model, worth over £90, one of the specially liveried Class 158 trains that regularly travel the Settle-Carlisle line, is the first she has won outside the Club.
Pauline is also a frequent public transport user, regularly takes advantage of Metro’s winter offer, and has had many memorable train journeys on the Settle Carlisle line and to Morecambe.
Difficult decision
Judges had to make a difficult choice from the 80 photographs submitted to Metro and Northern Rail. Photographers of all ages and standards sent in pictures taken during their journeys along the spectacularly scenic Settle-Carlisle and Leeds-Lancaster-Morecambe rail routes.
Many of the pictures were taken between November 2008 and February 2009, when MetroCard and English National Concessionary Pass holders were able to travel the length of both of these dramatic routes for just £8.
