At midnight on Friday 13 November a new company,'East Coast', took over running East Coast Main Line trains between West Yorkshire and London Kings Cross.
There will be no changes to train times, fares or ticket conditions and all existing tickets will be accepted.
'East Coast' is the trading name for the Department for Transport's East Coast Main Line Company Ltd, which is taking over the franchise from previous operator National Express.
"I'm pleased to see a commitment from the Department for Transport to continue with plans to improve these services, which are key to the ongoing development of our City Region's economy," said Metro Director General Kieran Preston.
"This commitment to improving the service will help to ensure the franchise is in the best condition to be re-let on a long-term and stable basis, which is what will deliver the best service for passengers."
