Despite recent stories in the media, Metro is confirming that people with English National Concessionary Passes are still entitled to free, off-peak travel on local bus services throughout England.

Some people have been ringing MetroLine to ask if they can still use their National Concessionary Pass, after the Government announced it is making some slight changes to the services on which the passes can be used.

"These changes have been to close a few loopholes in the original scheme and only affect services on which you have to pre-book a seat, such as coaches or sightseeing buses,” explained Metro Chairman Cllr Chris Greaves.

“In West Yorkshire, you can still use you National Concessionary Pass for nearly all scheduled services from a bus stop anywhere,” he continued

“The only exceptions are overnight NightRider services, some works services and school services.”
