Service 95 connects Barugh Green, Kexbrough and
High Hoyland in South Yorkshire with Clayton West, Scissett and
Skelmanthorpe, and is operated by Stagecoach on behalf of Metro,
with funding by Kirklees Council.
"This is a service that residents in south Kirklees have been
asking for," said Metro's Kirklees District Spokesperson, Cllr
Martyn Bolt. "The bus is being funded by Metro and Kirklees Council
and will be running as a trial for six months, until January 2009.
We will then review the service to how people are using it and make
sure it is giving value for money."
"The cabinet is pleased to support this trial as part of our
commitment to improving rural transport services," said Cllr David
Hall, Kirklees Council Cabinet Member for Transportation and Green
Services. "It is the first of a series of measures we will be
implementing over the next three years after consultation with
residents and councillors."
Stagecoach Yorkshire Commercial Director
Rupert Cox said: "We are delighted that, in conjunction with Metro,
we have been able to introduce this hourly extension to provide a
bus link with Barnsley for people living in these areas."
"It really is now up to the people in the area to make the most
of this services," added Cllr Bolt. "Metro, Kirklees Council and
Stagecoach have all played their part. Now it is up to passengers
to make it a success."
