Thousands of rail passengers throughout
West Yorkshire will benefit as a £600,000 investment in new
screens and new integrated systems is introduced.
Thanks to a partnership between Northern Rail and Metro,
passengers at 18 stations across West Yorkshire will get
up-to-the-minute train running information. The new installations
follow an initial batch of screens installed in 2009 and 2010.
"Our experience is that passengers value real-time travel
information," said Metro Chairman Cllr James Lewis. "The new
Customer Information Screens will keep rail passengers up-to-date
with information about when their next train will arrive and
station calling points along the route."
Richard Allan, Area Director for Northern Rail, comments: "We
hope today's launch demonstrates our commitment to keeping
communication channels open with passengers at our smaller
stations. We are continuing to work with Metro to secure funding
for other locations across the region so we can bring regular
information to even more of our customers in West Yorkshire."
Stations in West Yorkshire to benefit from the new screens are
Bramley, Castleford, Cross Gates, East Garforth, Fitzwilliam,
Hebden Bridge, Horsforth, Knottingley, Micklefield, Moorthorpe,
Mytholmroyd, Normanton, Outwood, Pontefract Monkhill, Sandal &
Agbrigg, Sowerby Bridge, Todmorden and Woodlesford.
