From Monday 21 May, the new Half-fare MetroDay ticket provides
young people with unlimited daily bus travel throughout West
Yorkshire for just £2.60.
Youngsters aged 5-11years, 11-16 year olds with a
Metro Young Person's Photocard and 16-18 year olds with a Metro
Scholar's PhotoCard will be able to take advantage of Half-fare
MetroDay seven days a week. Half-fare MetroDay is a multi-operator
ticket, which means it can be used on all West Yorkshire bus
companies' services.
A Half-Fare MetroDay ticket, which at £2.60 costs exactly
half the price of the £5.20 Adult MetroDay ticket, can be
bought on the bus. Drivers will issue a paper ticket, which is
valid on any bus service used that day.
"Like the recently-introduced adult MetroDay ticket, Half-Fare
MetroDay is being introduced to make bus travel easier and more
affordable, for young people who use bus services run by different
companies," said Metro Chairman Cllr James Lewis.
"It will help provide young people with affordable access to
continuing education, training, work experience and jobs, as well
as saving them money when visiting friends and family or going
shopping with their mates."
