Metro and Wakefield Council are progressing development of the Castleford Interchange scheme.
This partnership scheme will contribute in Castleford's economic development.
The new Interchange will mean a huge improvement in facilities for local bus and train passengers and provide an impressive, high quality gateway for visitors arriving in the town. A spacious high quality concourse will be provided with CCTV, electronic information, public toilets, a travel centre, units for a cafeteria and a newsagents.

The scheme also includes for providing long and short stay car parking, taxi pick up area and cycle stands along with associated highway alterations to facilitate the new Interchange layout.
Various rail regulatory approvals are being progressed in order that construction of the Interchange can take place adjacent to the operational railway.
Planning Permission was also obtained in May 2010 to relocate the Anglers Club and the Masonic Hall on site adjacent to Cambridge Street in Castleford following discussions with the property owners and a public consultation event in February 2010. This scheme will also provide further public car parking for commuters and shoppers.
Following the production of the drawings and specifications for the Interchange and the relocated premises, competitive tenders for the construction of the Interchange have been received and are currently being appraised by Metro.
Subject to obtaining the necessary formal approvals for funding from the Department of Transport (DfT) it is anticipated that work will commence on site later this year.
