To address a reduction in local government funding, Metro has been undertaking a series of reviews of the bus services it funds across West Yorkshire with reviews completed in Bradford (including Keighley), North and South Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
The review of contracted services in the Holme Valley was completed on the 27/28 April 2013 including revisions to trunk routes into Huddersfield, services to Meltham and Slaithwaite and local “H” services in Holmfirth (jointly funded by HVPC).
Highlights of the service changes were:
- More direct faster train-like links between Holmfirth and Huddersfield
- More services passing the Hospital and doctors’ surgeries
- New service from Sheffield Road
- New links from Scholes, Hepworth and Jackson Bridge to New Mill
- Direct link from Holmbridge to the Hospital
- The same broad service patterns on trunk routes daytimes, evenings and weekends
Review Objectives
The review had a number of objectives, these are itemised and analysed in the attached table (pdf 56kb, opens as new window)
Summary
The changes to the Holme Valley network have been well received. Metro and the bus operators will continue to monitor feedback and are interested in hearing feedback at drop in sessions in September.
