Many bus services in West Yorkshire are profitable and are operated on a commercial basis by bus operators.
The bus routes which operate every 15 minutes, or more frequently, form the core bus network. These services provide excellent direct links between key settlements and are used by about 70% of bus passengers.
The routes of these services are unlikely to change in future though there may be minor changes to timings.
In the future some of these core bus services may connect to other, less frequent services at interchanges or 'hubs' which will include bus and rail stations and district shopping centres.
