    metrofacts350x254

The annual statistics report is compiled to provide a statistical overview of public transport and Metro's involvement within it. Along with background information on Metro and West Yorkshire, MetroFacts offers information on patronage, fares, modal shares, public transport performances and customer services and facilities.

    What's in the report?

    Chapter 1: Background Information

Metro's influence in public transport spreads far and wide across West Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region. The facts and figures in this chapter give an indication of the size and scale of the area and population Metro serves, as well as pointing out the key role Metro plays in delivering and managing the West Yorkshire Transport Network.

    Chapter 2: Patronage and Fares

Metro works closely with rail and bus operators within West Yorkshire to help deliver affordable fares and to improve public transport patronage. This chapter contains the patronage numbers on both rail and bus for recent years and illustrates how prices have changed.

    Chapter 3: Travel Statistics

Encouraging a shift away from car use is a goal for Metro and its partners. Providing cheap, clean and efficient public transport is central to achieving this aim. Within this chapter are the modal shares (percentage shares of different forms of transport) for each district for 2010. These are also compared against previous years.

    Chapter 4: Transport Performance

A major part of Metro's role is to ensure that the quality, reliability and punctuality of buses and trains is at its best or constantly improving. Chapter 4 charts the path of both reliability and punctuality of trains and buses, as well as showing the level of customer satisfaction. This chapter also contains information relating to the work Metro carries out with its district partners to tackle congestion.

Chapter 5: Customer Services and Facilities

Metro provides many customer services and facilities for public transport users across West Yorkshire. These include MetroLine, a dedicated call centre for public transport enquiries, Travel Centres located across the region, Park and Ride facilities at the majority of train stations and security facilities targeted at the prevention of crime and aimed at creating a safe and secure environment. Chapter 5 contains facts and figures on all these aspects.
