Updated list of scheduled engineering work until the end of June.

Rail engineering workEngineering work will take place this month affecting services in and through West Yorkshire. This is only a summary of work; for more information, see the Disruptions and Diversions page.

 

Change: track renewals at Copmanthorpe near York planned for 2100 Saturday 3 May to 1200 Bank Holiday Monday 5 May have now been cancelled by Network Rail and trains to and from York will now run normally throughout.

 

Network Rail intend to renew the track formation at Nunnery Main Line Junction, Sheffield on Sunday 4 May 2008 before 1600, which will prevent trains gaining access to the north end of Sheffield station. Huddersfield/Leeds - Sheffield via Barnsley trains will terminate at Meadowhall with passengers going forward to Sheffield by connecting buses. TransPennine Express anticipate running a 30 minute interval shuttle bus service between Meadowhall and Sheffield which will be available to Northern passengers. Journeys times to and from Sheffield before 1600 will be extended

Sunday 27 April. Leeds - Knottingley trains will terminate at Castleford with connecting buses to Knottingley. Buses from Knottingley will depart earlier than advertised. The last bus will leave Knottingley at 2226 and run through to Leeds setting down only beyond Castleford for as long as passengers remain on the bus.

Sundays 27 April and 4 May. Local trains between Leeds and Marsden will be replaced by buses between Leeds and Huddersfield with extended journey times. Trains will run normally between Huddersfield and Marsden. Buses from Leeds will depart earlier than advertised.

On Monday 28 April to Thursday 1 May and Monday 5 to Thursday 8 May, the 2322 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria local train will terminate at Stalybridge with a connecting bus between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria calling at Ashton-under-Lyne.

 

On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May, Leeds - Morecambe trains will be affected by bridge works at Kirkstall and start from and terminate at Skipton on Saturday and Bradford Forster Square on Sunday. Also on Sunday due to other work on the West Coast Main Line, the 0853 Shipley - Morecambe, 1103 Bradford Forster Square - Morecambe, 1226 and 1428 Morecambe - Bradford Forster Square trains will not call at Lancaster, running direct from Carnforth to Bare Lane with connecting buses between Carnforth and Lancaster.

On both days Leeds - Bradford Forster Square trains will be replaced by buses throughout departing originating station at advertised times with extended journey times.

Leeds - Skipton trains will start from / terminate at platform 2 at Shipley at advertised times. Overall journey times to and from Leeds will be extended.

Leeds - Morecambe/Carlisle trains on Saturday will start from Skipton. Passengers should use alternative train and bus services to connect. On Sunday trains will be diverted to start from Bradford Forster Square going forward from Shipley at advertised times with connecting buses between Leeds and Shipley departing earlier advertised. Overall journey times to and from Leeds will be extended.

On Monday to Thursday 5 to 8 May, the 2319 Manchester Victoria - Leeds train will be diverted at Bradford Interchange non-stop to Leeds arriving later at 0113 next day. This train will not make any calls between Bradford Interchange and Leeds.

On Sunday 11 May, the 2115 Lincoln - Leeds (2239 Sheffield via Barnsley) train will be diverted from Wakefield Kirkgate to run non stop via Outwood due to overnight maintenance work . A connecting bus from Wakefield Kirkgate at 2333 will serve Normanton, Castleford and Woodlesford with extended journey times.

On Sundays 11 and 25 May, the 2115 Lincoln - Leeds (2239 Sheffield via Barnsley) train will be diverted from Wakefield Kirkgate to run non stop via Outwood. A connecting bus from Wakefield Kirkgate at 2333 will serve Normanton, Castleford and Woodlesford with extended journey times.

 

On Sunday 25 and Spring Bank Holiday Monday, 26 May, Leeds - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at and start from Moston all day at advertised times, with connecting buses between Moston and Manchester Victoria. All trains will also call at Castleton and Mills Hill. Buses from Manchester Victoria will depart earlier than advertised and journey times to and from Manchester will be extended.

On Sunday 25 May, Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will be diverted to and from Manchester Piccadilly all day, with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-under-Lyne.

On Spring Bank Holiday Monday, 26 May, Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at and start from Stalybridge all day, with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-under-Lyne.

Thursday 27 to 29 May The 2322 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria local train will be replaced by a bus throughout, with extended journey times.

 

Due to track renewals at Cutsyke on Sundays 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 June and 6, 13 July, Leeds - Knottingley trains will terminate at / start from Castleford with connecting buses between Castleford and Knottingley. The last bus will leave Knottingley at advertised time at 2226 and run through to Leeds setting down only beyond Castleford for as far as required. Journey times beyond Castleford will be extended.

Sunday 1 June. Leeds - Carlisle trains will arrive at Carlisle later than advertised. Carlisle - Leeds trains will depart Carlisle earlier than advertised - at 0919, 1346 and 1630 - in order to regain their booked departure times at Skipton. The 1733 Leeds - Carlisle train on Sunday will be unable to run beyond Appleby being replaced by a connecting bus from Appleby to Carlisle at 1935. In consequence the 0620 Carlisle - Kirkby Stephen train will start from Appleby at 0703 on Monday 2 June with a replacement bus between Carlisle and Kirkby Stephen departing Carlisle at advertised time, Kirkby Stephen arrive 0800.

On Sunday 1 June until 1245 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will be diverted to and from Manchester Piccadilly, with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-u-Lyne. 

On Sunday 8 June the 0748 Huddersfield - Leeds train will be replaced by a bus throughout with extended journey time, Leeds arrive 0858.   

On Sunday 8 June, Sheffield - York via Pontefract Baghill trains will be replaced by buses throughout in each direction, starting at advertised times. Journey times will be extended.

Leeds - Sheffield via Moorthorpe trains will terminate at Wakefield Westgate with connecting buses to Sheffield. The 1735, 1935 and 2136 buses from Sheffield will be extended to Leeds as there are no suitable rail connections.

On Saturdays 28 June, 5 and 12 July, the 1719 Leeds - Goole and 1849 Goole - Leeds trains will be replaced by buses between Knottingley and Goole with extended journey times. The 1849 Goole bus will run to Castleford to connect into the 2004 train to Leeds.
