Local rail service disruptions

Details of scheduled engineering work affecting local rail services in West Yorkshire.

Metro has been informed of the following timetable alterations affecting local rail services in West Yorkshire.

Airedale Line

On Fridays 10, 17, 24 September and 1 October 2010 the 2033 Leeds - Skipton East Coast train will not run.

All day on Sundays 12 and 19 September 2010 owing to track work at Steeton, Leeds/ Bradford Forster Square - Skipton trains will terminate at and start from Keighley and be diesel operated, with connecting buses between Keighley and Skipton. Some trains will terminate at and start from Shipley with connecting buses between Shipley and Skipton. Leeds - Carlisle/ Morecambe trains will terminate at Keighley and restart from Skipton and vice versa with replacement buses between Keighley and Skipton. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

All day on Sundays 26 September and 3 October 2010 owing to track work at Bingley, Leeds - Skipton trains will terminate at and start from Shipley (platform 3) with connecting buses between Shipley and Skipton. Platforms 1 and 2 at Shipley will not be in use. Bradford Forster Square - Skipton trains will be replaced by buses throughout. Leeds - Carlisle/ Morecambe trains will start from and terminate at Skipton with replacement buses between Shipley and Skipton connecting with other trains at Shipley. Journey times involving buses will be extended. Leeds - Bradford Forster Square trains will run normally.

From 1900 Saturdays and all day Sundays 16/17, 23/24 October 2010 the line will be blocked between Hellifield and Carlisle and between Hellifield and Giggleswick. On Saturdays the 1750 Leeds - Carlisle, 1919 Leeds - Ribblehead and 1816 Carlisle - Leeds, 2100 Ribblehead - Leeds trains will terminate at or start from Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Hellifield and Ribblehead/ Carlisle. Buses will depart from Carlisle earlier at 1610 to connect with the train and at 1820 running through to Leeds, setting down only beyond Hellifield. The 1639 Leeds - Morecambe train will terminate at Carnforth with a connecting bus to Morecambe and the 1909 Morecambe - Leeds train will start from Hellifield.

On Sundays Leeds - Carlisle trains and Leeds - Morecambe trains will terminate at and start from Skipton/ Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Skipton/Hellifield and Carlisle and between Skipton and Gigglewick. Separate trains will run between Gigglewick and Morecambe. Journey times involving buses will be extended. The final 0836 Blackpool North - Carlisle and 1741 Carlisle return Lancashire DalesRail trains on 17 October will terminate at and start from Hellifield.

All week Monday to Saturday 18 to 23 October 2010 inclusive the line will also be blocked between Hellifield and Carnforth. Leeds - Lancaster/ Morecambe trains will be replaced by buses between Skipton/ Hellifield and Carnforth/ Lancaster. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

From 2000 Saturday and all day Sunday 30/31 October 2010 the line will be blocked between Hellifield and Carlisle. On Saturday the 1919 Leeds - Ribblehead and 2100 Ribblehead - Leeds trains will terminate at and start from Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Hellifield and Ribblehead. On Sunday Leeds - Carlisle trains will terminate at and start from Skipton/ Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Skipton/Hellifield and Carlisle. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

From 1900 Saturday and all day Sunday 11/12 December 2010 owing to maintenance the Settle - Carlisle line will be blocked north of Appleby. Leeds - Carlisle trains will terminate at Appleby and start from Appleby with connecting buses between Appleby and Carlisle. On Saturday there will be southbound buses from Carlisle at 1730 and 1825 and trains from Appleby at 1858 and 1956 (to Skipton). Buses from Carlisle on Sunday will depart earlier than advertised in order to connect at Appleby. Due to turnround times at Appleby southbound trains on Sunday will depart later at 1115, 1525, 1937, plus as advertised at 1720. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

From 1900 Saturday and all day Sunday 18/19 December 2010 owing to maintenance the line will be blocked between Hellifield and Carlisle. On Saturday the 1750 Leeds - Carlisle, 1919 Leeds - Ribblehead and 1816 Carlisle - Leeds, 2100 Ribblehead - Leeds trains will terminate at or start from Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Skipton and Ribblehead/ Carlisle. Buses will depart from Carlisle earlier at 1637 to connect with the train at Skipton and at 1816 to Skipton arrive 2213. On Sunday Leeds - Carlisle trains will terminate at and start from Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Skipton and Carlisle. Buses to connect with the train at Skipton will depart earlier at 0740, 1135 and 1450, as well as those at advertised train times. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

All day Bank Holidays Monday and Tuesday 27, 28 December 2010 owing to maintenance work the line will be blocked between Hellifield and Carlisle. The line is also blocked on Sunday 26 December when no trains run. Leeds - Carlisle trains will terminate at or start from Hellifield at advertised times with replacement buses between Skipton and Carlisle. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

Caldervale Line

All day on Sunday 5 September 2010 Leeds - Rochdale trains will terminate at and start from Littleborough. Trains will be retimed 5 minutes later into Littleborough and start from Littleborough 5 minutes earlier than advertised. Buses are already timetabled to replace trains between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria. Some of these will be retimed and extended to run between Littleborough and Manchester Victoria, connecting with trains. Buses from Manchester will run earlier than advertised and buses from Rochdale will run later than advertised. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

On Tuesdays to Fridays 7 to 10 September and 19 to 22 October 2010 the 0547 Hebden Bridge - Leeds train will start from Halifax at 0603 with an earlier connecting bus at 0515 from Hebden Bridge and a replacement bus at 0545 both to Halifax, calling Mytholmroyd 0525, 0555, Sowerby 0540, 0610, Halifax arrive 0555, 0625.

On Mondays to Thursdays 4 to 7 October, 15 to 18 November, 27 to 30 December 2010 the 2320 Manchester Victoria - Leeds will be diverted from Bradford Interchange (reverse) and run non stop to Leeds via Morley, arriving later at 0115 next day. This train does not call intermediately between Bradford and Leeds.

Dearne Valley Line

No planned disruptions.

Hallam Line

On Sundays 12 September, 10 October, 14 November, 5 December 2010 the 2115 Lincoln - Leeds train starting from Kiveton Park at 2212 (2239 Sheffield via Barnsley) will be diverted from Wakefield Kirkgate direct to Leeds arrive 2351, not calling at Normanton, Castleford and Woodlesford. A connecting bus at 2335 from Wakefield Kirkgate will serve these stations, Leeds arrive 0034 Monday.

On Sunday 17 October 2010 owing to work in the Nottingham area all day Leeds - Nottingham via Barnsley trains will terminate at and start from Alfreton with connecting buses to and from Nottingham calling at Langley Mill.

Harrogate Line

On Sunday 31 October 2010 owing to work in Bramhope tunnel, trains will be replaced by buses between Horsforth and Harrogate until 1600. Journey times involving buses will be extended.

Huddersfield Line

Owing to work in Standedge tunnel until 1500 on Sundays 12 September to 5 December 2010 inclusive, an hourly train service will run between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria only. An hourly connecting bus service will run between Huddersfield and Stalybridge calling all stations except Slaithwaite and Marsden. Here the bus service will run along the main A62 road serving designated bus stops. Details are included in the current Metro Huddersfield Line timetable.

On Mondays to Thursdays 27 to 30 September, 8 to 11 November, 20 to 23 December 2010 the 2305 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria train will terminate at Stalybridge with a connecting bus to Manchester Victoria calling Ashton-u-Lyne.

All day Saturdays and until 1500 Sundays 16/17, 23/24 October 2010 the line will be blocked between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria. Until 1930 on Saturdays 16, 23 October 2010 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at and start from Stalybridge with a half hourly bus service between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-u-Lyne. Liverpool - Stalybridge trains will terminate at and start from Manchester Victoria. Additional Stalybridge calls will be made in First TransPennine Express Hull trains. From 1930 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will be diverted to run to and from Manchester Piccadilly with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-u-Lyne.

Until 1500 on Sundays 17,24 October 2010 replacement buses are already timetabled to run between Huddersfield and Stalybridge (see above). These will be extended to run to and from Manchester Victoria calling at Ashton-u-Lyne replacing the train service. From 1500 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will be diverted to run to and from Manchester Piccadilly with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-u-Lyne. Alternate trains from Manchester Piccadilly will run into the bay platform at Stalybridge, shunt to platform 1 and restart as a separate train to Huddersfield.

Until 1500 on Sundays replacement buses are already timetabled to run between Huddersfield and Stalybridge (see above). On Sundays 14, 21 November 2010 these will be extended to run to and from Manchester Victoria calling at Ashton-u-Lyne replacing the train service. From 1500 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains will be diverted to run to and from Manchester Piccadilly with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria serving Ashton-u-Lyne. Alternate trains from Manchester Piccadilly will run into the bay platform at Stalybridge, shunt to platform 1 and restart as a separate train to Huddersfield.

Penistone Line

No planned disruptions.

Pontefract Line

On Mondays to Thursdays 30 August to 2 September, 22 to 25 November 2010 the 2304 Wakefield Westgate - Knottingley train will be replaced by a bus throughout with extended journey times.

Owing to work east of Knottingley from 2000 on Saturdays 11, 25 September, 20 November and 11 December 2010 the 2016 (not 11 September), 2116, 2216, 2305 Knottingley - Leeds trains are subject to platform alterations at Knottingley.

On Sundays 12 September, 10 October, 14 November, 5 December 2010 the 2226 Knottingley - Leeds train will be replaced by a bus throughout with extended journey times.

On Monday to Thursday 11 to 14 October 2010 the 2305 Knottingley - Leeds train will start from Glasshoughton at 2314 with a replacement bus from Knottingley to Leeds, setting down only beyond Glasshoughton. The 2304 Wakefield Westgate - Knottingley train will be replaced by a bus throughout. Journey times involving buses will be extended.
