Metro has been informed of the following timetable alterations affecting local rail services in West Yorkshire.

Airedale Line
The Settle - Carlisle Line will be closed between Skipton/ Hellifield and Langwathby for major track renewals and earthworks for two weeks from Friday 10 July to Monday 27 July 2009 inclusive. Leeds - Morecambe trains are also affected for part of the blockade. Lancashire DalesRail trains will not run on the three Sundays affected. Northern has produced separate publicity giving details of the amended train and bus arrangements during the period.
On Friday and Saturday 10/11 July and Monday to Saturday 13 to 18 July 2009 Leeds - Carlisle trains will terminate at Hellifield (or Long Preston for those trains that normally call there) and restart from Langwathby with some retimings between Langwathby and Carlisle.There will be two connecting buses for each train, an express bus from Skipton to Carlisle calling only at Settle, Kirkby Stephen, Kirkby Stephen town centre and Appleby and a stopping bus to Carlisle/ Langwathby calling all stations except Dent. The train/ bus interchange point will be at Skipton.
Carlisle - Leeds trains will terminate at Langwathby and restart from Long Preston or Hellifield at advertised times. There will be two replacement buses for each train, one connecting out of the train arrivals at Langwathby to Skipton calling all stations except Dent and one departing Carlisle at advertised times for Skipton calling only at Appleby, Kirkby Stephen town centre, Kirkby Stephen and Settle. Passengers should go forward from Skipton by the next available train.
The 0947 Leeds - Carlisle and 1508 Carlisle - Leeds trains will be replaced by express buses only, between Skipton and Carlisle, with the latter start forward from Skipton at advertised time. On Saturday 18 July 2009 the 1919 Leeds - Ribblehead will terminate at Skipton with a connecting bus to Ribblehead and the 2100 Ribblehead - Skipton train will be replaced by a bus throughout starting later than advertised. Passengers to and from Dent should call Northern’s Customer Services Helpline to enable alternative arrangements to be made. Overall journey times involving buses will be extended.

On Sunday 12 July 2009 Leeds - Morecambe trains will terminate at Skipton and restart from Hellifield (except 1025, 1153 Giggleswick - Morecambe which will start from Giggleswick). Connecting buses will run between Skipton and Giggleswick. The later departure of 1025 Giggleswick to enable it to connect with the 0930 Skipton bus means it is unable to call at Lancaster, Lancaster passengers using a connecting bus from Carnforth. Morecambe - Leeds trains will terminate at Hellifield (except 2001 Morecambe - Giggleswick) with connecting buses between Giggleswick and Skipton. The train/ bus interchange points will be at Skipton and Giggleswick. The 1204 Lancaster - Morecambe and 1323 Morecambe - Lancaster trains will be replaced by buses but there will be no replacement for the 1120 Morecambe - Lancaster train as there is another train at 1135.
On Sundays 19, 26 July, Monday to Saturday 20 to 25 July and Monday 27 July 2009 Leeds - Morecambe trains will terminate at Skipton with connecting buses between Skipton and Carnforth (via Morecambe) calling all stations. Morecambe - Leeds trains will be replaced by buses between Morecambe and Skipton with trains starting from Skipton at advertised times, except some trains on Sunday where they have been adjusted to connect with buses. On Sundays the 1204 Lancaster - Morecambe and 1323 Morecambe - Lancaster trains will be replaced by buses but there will be no replacement for the 1120 Morecambe - Lancaster train as there is another train at 1135.
On weekdays the 1019 Leeds - Heysham Port train will be replaced by two buses, 1105 Skipton - Carnforth to connect out of train arrival at Skipton and 1015 Skipton - Heysham Port to connect into the ferry departure. Passengers from stations not served by the replacement ferry bus should catch an earlier train to make the connection. The 1315 Heysham Port - Leeds train will be replaced by two buses, 1315 Heysham Port - Skipton calling all stations and 1315 Heysham Port - Lancaster express. The train/ bus interchange point will be at Skipton.
Caldervale Line
Major refurbishment work at Halifax station is taking place throughout each weekend until 12 July 2009. Please see www.wymetro.com/halifax for further information including revised timetables.
Due to an overnight possession on the route via Morley used by the empty unit forming the train, on Tuesday to Friday 14 to 17 July 2009 the 0547 Hebden Bridge - Leeds train will start from Halifax at 0606, with a connecting bus earlier than advertised from Hebden Bridge at 0515, Mytholmroyd 0525, Sowerby Bridge 0540.
All day on Sunday 19 July 2009 due to work in the Manchester area Leeds - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at and start from Rochdale with connecting buses between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria. Buses from Manchester Victoria will depart earlier than advertised. Overall journey times to and from Manchester will be extended.
From 2300 Friday 24 July and all day Saturday and Sunday 25/26 July 2009 there is a weekend blockade for signalling work and station canopy renewals at Halifax which will prevent trains running along the Calder Valley between Bradford Interchange/ Mirfield and Hebden Bridge and between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield. Work in the Manchester area on Sunday 26 July previously advertised, has been cancelled at short notice and trains will be re-instated between Hebden Bridge and Manchester Victoria. Limited spare resources available on a Saturday will also prevent Northern operating a full timetable on every unaffected leg of the timetable.
On Friday 24 July 2009 the 2237 Leeds - Manchester Victoria train will terminate at Bradford Interchange and restart from Hebden Bridge with a connecting bus between Bradford Interchange and Manchester Victoria. The 2308 Leeds - Huddersfield train will terminate at Bradford Interchange with a connecting bus between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield. The 2228, 2320 Manchester Victoria - Leeds trains will terminate at Hebden Bridge with connecting buses to Leeds and a separate 2346 Bradford Interchange - Leeds train.
On Saturday 25 July 2009 Leeds - Manchester Victoria and York - Blackpool North trains will terminate at Bradford Interchange and restart from Hebden Bridge and vice versa with replacement buses betwen Bradford Interchange and Hebden Bridge. Leeds - Manchester Victoria via Brighouse trains will terminate at Dewsbury and restart from Hebden Bridge and vice versa with connecting buses between Dewsbury and Hebden Bridge. Selby - Wakefield Westgate trains will terminate at Bradford Interchange and restart from Huddersfield and vice versa at advertised times with buses between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield calling at Halifax and Brighouse. Overall journey times involving buses will be extended.
On Sunday 26 July 2009 Leeds - Manchester Victoria and York - Blackpool North trains will terminate at Bradford Interchange and restart from Hebden Bridge and vice versa at advertised times with connecting buses between Bradford Interchange and Hebden Bridge. The 0845 Leeds - Blackpool North train will start forward from Blackburn with a connecting bus from Leeds. Leeds - Halifax/ Huddersfield trains will terminate at Bradford Interchange with connecting buses between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield calling at Halifax and Brighouse. Overall journey times involving buses will be extended.
All day on Sunday 2 August 2009 due to track renewals in the Rochdale area Leeds - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at and start from Todmorden, with connecting buses between Todmorden and Manchester Victoria. Buses from Manchester Victoria will depart earlier than advertised in order to connect, except for the last bus which will depart at 2208 advertised time and run through to Leeds as required, setting down only beyond Todmorden.
All day on Sunday 9 August 2009 owing to track maintenance at Greetland no trains will be able to run between Halifax and Huddersfield. Leeds - Huddersfield via Bradford Interchange trains will terminate at Halifax with connecting buses between Halifax and Huddersfield calling at Brighouse. Huddersfield - Leeds via Bradford Interchange trains will start from Halifax at advertised times with cconnecting buses between Huddersfield and Halifax, calling at Brighouse departing earlier than advertised.
Until 1015 on Sunday 9 August 2009 owing to track work in the Todmorden area the 0821, 0902 Leeds - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at Hebden Bridge and restart from Rochdale at advertised times with connecting buses between Hebden Bridge and Manchester Victoria/ Rochdale. The 0908 Manchester Victoria - Leeds train will terminate at Rochdale and restart from Hebden Bridge at advertised times with a connecting bus between Rochdale and Hebden Bridge. The 0845 Leeds - Blackpool North train will terminate at Hebden Bridge and restart from Blackburn at advertised times, with a connecting bus between Hebden Bridge and Blackburn which will then connect into the next Blackpool train.
All day on Sundays 16 and 23 August 2009 owing to track renewals at Smithy Bridge Leeds - Manchester Victoria trains will terminate at Littleborough 3 minutes later than advertised, with connecting buses to Rochdale. The first and last trains, 0821 Leeds - Manchester Victoria and 2057 York - Manchester Victoria, will terminate at Todmorden with connecting buses to Manchester Victoria. Trains will run between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria at advertised times. Manchester Victoria - Leeds trains will start from Littleborough 3 minutes earlier than advertised with connecting buses from Rochdale, except the first and last trains, 0908 Manchester Victoria - Leeds which will start from Todmorden with a connecting bus from Manchester Victoria and 2208 Manchester Victoria - Leeds which will start from Todmorden with a connecting bus from Rochdale and an additional bus between Rochdale and Leeds calling for as long as passengers remain on the bus. Trains will run between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale at advertised times.
Due to an overnight possession on the route used by the empty unit forming the train, on Tuesday to Friday 25 to 28 August 2009 the 0547 Hebden Bridge - Leeds train will start from Halifax at 0606, with a connecting bus earlier than advertised from Hebden Bridge at 0515, Mytholmroyd 0525, Sowerby Bridge 0540, and another bus from Hebden Bridge at 0543, Mytholmroyd, 0553, Sowerby Bridge 0608, Halifax arrive 0623.
From 2145 Saturday until 2145 Sunday 29/30 August 2009 major engineering work in the Preston station area will prevent access into various platforms at different times of the day. Blackpool - York trains will run as advertised with platform alterations. The 0911 Blackpool - York train on Sunday will depart Preston later at 0945 and be retimed between Preston and Leeds.
On Monday to Thursday 31 August to 3 September 2009 due to overnight maintenance between Bradford and Leeds, the 2320 Manchester Victoria - Leeds train will be diverted from Bradford Interchange (reverse) via Brighouse non stop to Leeds arriving later at 0115 next day. This train is not advertised to make any calls between Bradford Interchange and Leeds.
Dearne Valley Line
No planned disruptions.
Hallam Line
On Sundays until 12 July 2009 inclusive (and from 2200 on preceding Saturdays) due to work in the Hunslet area, all Leeds - Sheffield trains via both Castleford and direct to Barnsley will be diverted between Leeds and Wakefield Kirkgate, with connecting buses serving intermediate stations. The Leeds - Knottingley service will be replaced by buses throughout, with extended journey times. Details are included in the Hallam Line timetable. Some late night Saturday trains will also be affected. Unfortunately although the amended trains are shown, the connecting and replacement buses between Wakefield Kirkgate and Leeds serving Normanton, Castleford and Woodlesford late Saturday evenings are not included in the new timetable. These will run at 2154, 2250 Wakefield Kirkgate - Leeds and 2237 Leeds - Wakefield Kirkgate. Journey times involving buses will be extended.
On Sunday 16 August 2009 the 2115 Lincoln - Leeds (2239 Sheffield via Barnsley) train will be diverted from Wakefield Kirkgate to run directly to Leeds not calling at Normanton, Castleford and Woodlesford, which will be served by a connecting bus from Wakefield Kirkgate at 2340.
Harrogate Line
No planned disruptions.
Huddersfield Line
On Sundays 19 and 26 July 2009 all day Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria local trains will terminate at and start from Stalybridge with connecting buses between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria.
On Monday to Thursday 10 to 13 August 2009 the 2305 Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria train will depart one minute earlier than advertised beyond Marsden.
Owing to work in Huddersfield and Standedge tunnels all day on Saturdays and Sundays 12/13, 19/20, 26/27 September 2009 local trains between Leeds/ Huddersfield and Marsden will be replaced by buses between Huddersfield and Marsden each weekend. The Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria local service will only operate between Greenfield and Manchester Victoria with connecting buses from and to Huddersfield on Saturdays. On Sundays from 13 September Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria trains are booked to run between Huddersfield and Marsden only (see below) with details included in the timetable, and these will be replaced by buses on these three Sundays. GMPTE will provide an hourly connecting rail replacement bus service between Huddersfield and Stalybridge departing both rail stations at xx10 minutes past each hour, calling on request on the main A62 in Slaithwaite and Marsden and not directly serving these rail stations.
On Sundays from 13 September to 6 December 2009 due to engineering work First TransPennine Express trains before 0900 will be replaced by buses between Manchester Airport and Leeds/ York serving Manchester Piccadilly, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Leeds. From 0900 First TransPennine Express trains will be diverted via the Calder Valley to and from Manchester Victoria. Alternate trains will run non stop between Leeds and Manchester Victoria but call at Dewsbury only towards Leeds, and alternate trains will run via Huddersfield where they reverse. The third First TransPennine Express train each hour will run between Hull/York/Leeds and Huddersfield only. A replacement bus service will operate non stop between Huddersfield and Stalybridge. Details are included in the Huddersfield Line timetable.
The first Leeds - Huddersfield local trains in each direction will be replaced by buses throughout with extended journey times. The Huddersfield - Manchester Victoria local service will operate only Huddersfield to Marsden and Stalybridge to Manchester Victoria. Alternate trains from Marsden will be through trains to Leeds via Halifax and Bradford. Details are included in the Huddersfield Line timetable. GMPTE will provide an hourly connecting rail replacement bus service between the two rail services (rail tickets valid), departing both Huddersfield and Stalybridge rail stations at xx10 minutes past each hour, calling on request on the main A62 in Slaithwaite and Marsden and not directly serving these rail stations. Through journey times will be extended.
Penistone Line
Owing to work in the Huddersfield area all day on Saturdays and Sundays 12/13, 19/20, 26/27 September 2009 trains will run at advertised times between Penistone and Sheffield only, with connecting buses between Huddersfield and Penistone calling all intermediate stations. Buses will depart earlier than advertised from Huddersfield and journey times will be extended by up to one hour.
Pontefract Line
On Sundays until 12 July 2009 inclusive (and from 2200 on preceding Saturdays) due to work in the Hunslet area, the Leeds - Knottingley service will be replaced by buses throughout, with extended journey times. Some late night Saturday trains will also be affected. Details are included in the Pontefract Line timetable.
From 1925 until 2200 Saturday 11 July, from 1500 Saturday 18 July and all day Sunday 19 July 2009, due to track work at Knottingley, Leeds/ Wakefield - Knottingley trains will terminate at and start from Pontefract Monkhill with connecting buses between Pontefract Monkhill and Knottingley. On Sunday 12 July 2009 (and from2200 on Saturday) Leeds - Knottingley trains are already replaced by buses throughout (see above and timetable). On Saturday 18 July the 1716 Leeds - Goole train will be replaced by a bus between Pontefract Monkhill and Goole and the 1849 Goole - Leeds train will be replaced by a bus between Goole and Castleford connecting into other trains at Castleford. The 1806 Pontefract Monkhill - Wakefield Kirkgate train will depart from the opposite platform at Pontefract Monkhill. Overall journey times to and from Knottingley and beyond will be extended.
On Monday to Thursday 17 to 20 August 2009 the 2304 Wakefield Westgate - Knottingley train will be replaced by a bus throughout with extended journey times.
Wakefield Line
No planned disruptions.
Wharfedale Line
On Sundays 13, 20, 27 September, 4, 11 and 18 October 2009 track maintenance will block the single line between Shipley and Guiseley all day. The Bradford Forster Square - Ilkley rail service will be withdrawn and replaced by buses between Shipley and Ilkley connecting into and out of the Leeds - Bradford Forster Square service at Shipley. The last bus in each direction will run throughout between Bradford and Ilkley. Journey times will be extended.
York & Selby Lines
