Advance Booking
A telephone pre-booking service is offered by the railway companies to assist people with disabilities and restricted mobility carry out their journey.
Facilities vary greatly at different stations in West Yorkshire. It is advised that customers who require assistance give notice to the Train Operating Companies so staff can be available and able to assist. This service unfortunately is not available at unstaffed stations or outside published staffing hours.

- Departure and destination stations
- Train changes
- Your means of travel to and from stations
- Whether a station wheelchair will be needed
- Whether you are travelling alone or have a companion

Northern Trains are able to accommodate wheelchairs, which do not exceed the standard size of 67cm wide by 120cm long and are only able to take scooters, which can be folded and carried onto the train.

CrossCountry’s trains are accessible by wheelchairs having a maximum width of 67cm on HSTs or 70cm Voyagers.

Standard wheelchairs can be carried on all services providing they are no wider than 67cm, no longer than120 cm and no heavier than 300kg.

NXEC trains can accommodate wheelchairs which are less than 75cm wide and 120cm long, and can take particular models of scooters - please contact the helpline for more information.
