Eligibility and when to apply for a Senior Pass

On 6 April 2010, there were changes to the way in which English National Concessionary Passes are issued.

If your 60th birthday falls after the 6 April 2010, the date you will become eligible for a pass is shown in the table below. You can apply a few weeks before your eligibility date.

You can also calculate your pensionable age on the DirectGov website

This change does not affect Disabled or Blind passes.

Dates of eligibility for Senior bus passes

If your birthday falls within these dates... ...you are eligible for your pass from this date
On or before 5 September 1950 from 6 January 2011
Between 6 September and 5 October 1950 6 March 2011
Between 6 October and 5 November 1950 6 May 2011
Between 6 November and 5 December 1950 6 July 2011
Between 6 December and 5 January 1951 6 September 2011
Between 6 January and 5 February 1951 6 November 2011
Between 6 February and 5 March 1951 6 January 2012
Between 6 March and 5 April 1951 6 March 2012

Applying online

You need:

  • Passport quality colour photo, saved to your computer
  • Valid UK drivers licence
    OR
  • Valid passport

Alternatively

You can also apply at West Yorkshire Post Offices and bus station Travel Centres.

Remember to take:

  • Passport-quality colour photo
  • Proof of ID
  • Proof you live in West Yorkshire
