Aims of the scheme
The aim is to help property developers mitigate the traffic
generation from new residential developments. By encouraging the
use of public transport we can help establish sustainable travel
patterns from the very start.
What's on offer?
The RMC scheme offers residents:
- A free rail and bus MetroCard in the first
year
- A minimum 25% discount on a rail and bus MetroCard in the
second year
- A minimum 10% discount on a rail and bus MetroCard in the third
year.
The MetroCard allows virtually unlimited travel on buses and
trains throughout West Yorkshire.
What are the benefits?
The RMC Scheme will:
- Help address residents' need for access to a full range of
facilities for work, education, health, leisure, recreation and
shopping by public transport;
- Reduce the traffic generated by the development;
- Promote healthy sustainable lifestyles and;
- Raise the awareness of public transport and help establish more
sustainable travel patterns.
