Young Person's PhotoCard

Why do I need a Young Person's PhotoCard?

If you’re aged 11 to 16*, you need a Young Person’s PhotoCard to be eligible for half-fare travel on virtually all buses in West Yorkshire. It also provides proof of age and entitlement for train travel, and to claim a half-price rail season ticket.

*A Young Person's Photocard is valid until 15th September following the cardholder's 16th birthday.

You also need a Young Person's PhotoCard when buying or using a School Plus MetroCard.

Without your Young Person's PhotoCard you will have to pay the full adult fare for your journey.

How much does it cost?

It costs £2 to get your Young Person's PhotoCard.

Where do I get it from?

Metro Travel Centres, Metro Bus Stations or any Post Office in West Yorkshire.

First time applicants must apply in person at an issuing office. Take with you:

  • The completed application form (or pick up and complete a form when you are there).
  • A recent full-faced passport-size colour photograph.
  • Proof of identity and age, such as your birth certificate or passport.
  • £2 administration fee.
