You can only buy
your Zone 6 or Zone 7 ticket from all staffed rail stations within West
Yorkshire and at Harrogate or Skipton rail stations in North Yorkshire.
They can not be purchased on-train.
Buying your first Zone 6
or Zone 7 ticket
For your first ticket you will need to take along a
passport photograph, so a PhotoCard can be made for you to use the ticket. You
can buy your first one up to two working days before the date you would like
it to start.
Using your ticket
Simply show your PhotoCard and
either your Zone 6 or Zone 7 ticket to the to the ticket inspector at the
rail station (or conductor on-board the train when asked). At stations with
Automatic Ticket Gates, please insert the ticket, not the PhotoCard, in to
the gate, to allow entry or exit from the station.
If your Zone
6 or Zone 7 ticket covers only part of your journey, you will need to pay any
additional fare before starting your journey. If you start your journey at a
rail station with an open ticket office, then you must buy your ticket before
boarding -no discounted fares are available from the conductor.
Please note the following:
- Zone 6 and
Zone 7 tickets are not valid on any bus services in either North Yorkshire or
West Yorkshire.
- Zone 7 tickets cannot be used for travel in Zone
6.
Renewing your ticket
When you want to renew your
ticket, you just need to show your PhotoCard. Tickets continuing from the
previous expiry date can normally be renewed one week in advance. A renewal
need not be for the same travel type or period as the previous card.
Payment
You can pay for your either your Zone 6 or Zone 7 ticket
with cash and all major credit and debit cards.
If you are buying a
ticket and paying by cheque it will be necessary for the cheque to be made
payable as follows:
- Rail Stations (most) - 'Northern Rail
Limited'
- Dewsbury & Huddersfield - 'First/Keolis TransPennine
Limited'
- Wakefield Westgate - 'East Coast Main Line Company
Limited'
You cannot buy Zone 6 or Zone 7 rail cards by
post or online.
