MetroCard is a two-part travel card promoted by the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (Metro) for travel in West Yorkshire. It comprises a uniquely numbered PhotoCard and limited period travel ticket. MetroCard provides unlimited free travel on the services where the ticket is valid. There are seven types available:
- Bus
- Bus & Rail Zones 1, 2 and 3
- Bus & Rail Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4
- Bus & Rail Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
- Bus & Rail Zones 2, 3, 4 and 5
- Student Plus Bus & Rail Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
- School Plus Bus only MetroCard.
All MetroCards are valid on virtually all ordinary stopping bus services* within West Yorkshire. Categories 2 to 6 above are also valid within the specified Rail Zones, as defined in the MetroCard leaflet and Prepaid ticket price list available at issuing outlets.
* Exclusions – A MetroCard cannot be used on Night Riders, football or concert specials, long distance coaches, excursions, tours, contract, chartered or other privately hired bus or train services.
The cards specified in 1 to 5 above are available in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual periods, while types 6 & 7 above are only available in weekly and monthly periods.
Holders of MetroCard are carried on services subject to Metro’s Conditions of Use and the Conditions of Carriage of the operator in question, i.e. the relevant bus company or train operator. In addition passengers are subject to PCV Regulations and local byelaws.
