Refunds & Replacements

Refunds for returned cards, and replacements for lost or damaged cards.

Refunds

Note: a small administration charge will be deducted from any refund made.

If you return a pre-purchased MetroCard before its period of use begins, the full purchase price, will be refunded.

If you return a MetroCard part-way through its validity period, we will refund the original price, less the combined prices of any shorter period MetroCards which would have been required to cover travel before the card's return.

There are no refunds for part-expired weekly tickets

Refunds for Company Annual MetroCards are made only to that company.

If you return a card which you bought to replace a lost card which you then recover, the full pruchase price will be refunded. Howeverm the replacement card must be returned before the expiry date of the recovered card, together with a photocopy of the recovered card.

Please contact Metro on 0113 2517 271/495 for advise on how to obtain a refund. You should retain your PhotoCard for future possible use.

Replacements

Damaged MetroCards may be replaced without charge at any MetroCard outlet, but only if the details can still be read. Illegible cards cannot be replaced.

By completing a form and supplying an extra photograph, you can register your Quarterley or Annual MetroCard at the point of purchase.

If you then lose your card, we will replace it - valid to to the same expiry date as the original - on receipt of the form, another passport photograph and a £5 admin fee. Cheques should be made payable to Metro.

Only one replacement per customer is allowed, and further refunds will not be granted against either the replacement or lost ticket. If your card was stolen, please provide the crime reference number when you apply for a replacement card.

No refunds will be given for lost Weekly or Monthly MetroCards, nor for unregistered Quarterley or Annual MetroCards.
