Travel by MetroCard

Select the MetroCard pages on the left to see the area covered by each card, how much it costs and its new price from Sunday 20 July.

MetroCard can help regular travellers cut the cost of travel in West Yorkshire. Benefits include:

  • unlimited travel on train services within the zones chosen;
  • virtually unlimited travel on buses in West Yorkshire;
  • weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual options;
  • no price changes while the ticket is valid;
  • no hunting for change to buy a ticket for each journey.

How to choose your MetroCard

  • If you don’t use trains regularly, choose a Bus MetroCard.
  • If you travel into, or through Leeds station regularly, the location of your home station on the map will show you which card you should buy.
  • If your regular train journey does not go to, or through Leeds station, you will need a Zones 2-5 MetroCard.
  • If you are aged 5 - 15, or a full-time school student aged 16 to 18, choose a bus-only School Plus Metrocard.
  • If you are under 22 or a full time student choose a Student Plus MetroCard.

Metro operates a replacement or refund service for quarterly and annual MetroCards which have been registered with Metro.

MetroCards are valid on most services run by any operator in West Yorkshire, except for Nightrider and special bus services, such as football and concert specials and some school contract services.
