How to buy your MetroCard

There are over 500 outlets where you can buy your MetroCard.

MetroCard outlets include:

  • Staffed bus and rail stations in West Yorkshire.
  • Post Offices in West Yorkshire (weekly and monthly MetroCards only).

For your first MetroCard you will need to take along a passport type photograph for a PhotoCard to be used with your MetroCard.

If you are buying a Quarterly or Annual MetroCard ask about registering the purchase in case of loss.

You can buy your first MetroCard up to two working days before the date you would like it to start. When you want to renew your card you just need to show your PhotoCard. MetroCards continuing from the previous expiry date can normally be renewed one week in advance. A renewal need not be for the same travel type or period as the previous card.

To renew by post, send your PhotoCard number, required starting date and covering cheque to:

Metro Fares and Pricing,
Wellington House,
40-50 Wellington Street,
Leeds LS1 2DE.

Cheques should be made payable to ‘Metro’.

Please allow seven days for processing and delivery.
