2: Student Plus MetroCard

MetroCard General Conditions of Use.

This ticket is available to all persons up to the age of 21 inclusive and to mature students 22 years and over who are in full time education for 16 hours per week or more.

a) The ticket may be purchased up to two working days in advance of the intended starting date by personally calling at any of the outlets specified in 1a) above. It must not be used before the starting date.

b) The Student Plus PhotoCard is dated to expire the day before the holder's 22nd birthday or, in the case of mature students, the 30th September each year. In the case of mature students the PhotoCard is issued annually.

c) To obtain your first Student Plus MetroCard you will need to have issued a Student Plus PhotoCard as above category - you should attend in person at any to the outlets specified in 1a) above with:
(i) a full face passport type photograph
(ii) the appropriate payment for the ticket you wish to purchase
(iii) If you are under 22 years of age you must provide proof of age
(iv) Mature students aged 22 years or over are required to provide evidence that they are full-time students for each academic year (16 hours per week or more) – by showing your college/university registration document, identity card, grant form, student union card depicting full time, letter from confirming placement taken up – all must be for the current academic year                                                                            

d) Each first time purchaser will then be issued with a Student Plus PhotoCard incorporating your photograph, name, address, expiry date and personal PhotoCard number plus a Student Plus MetroCard ticket of the appropriate duration.

e) Student Plus MetroCards may be renewed for a further period (subject to g) below) by calling at an appropriate outlet with your Student Plus PhotoCard and payment. The renewal period need not start immediately the previous one has expired.

f) Advance renewal is in accordance with paragraphs 1b), 1e) and 1f) above (subject to 2g) below).

g) Student Plus MetroCard tickets that are sold for use in conjuction with the Student Plus PhotoCard should not be dated to expire after the expiry date on the PhotoCard. After this date any issue, will be treat as falling within the new academic year for over 22 year olds and the initial procedure outlined in 2c) above must be followed.                                                                              

h) There is no residency qualification for the Student Plus MetroCard.
