How to enter
You have until Friday 23 March 2012 to enter our photo competition. Simply send an email to settlecarlisle@wypte.gov.uk with your photo(s) as an attachment.
Don't forget to include a caption for your photo to show location and subject, as well as your full name, email address and home address.
(This information is protected by Data Protection Act and will not be released to third parties. Only your name will be accredited with the winning photo.)
Your photo might show views you have seen from the trains or places you have visited along the lines. They could feature the routes, trains, bridges, viaducts, the people you meet or even pictures of yourself enjoying the journey.

We will post all photos to our Flickr web gallery at www.flickr.com/wymetro. You will also find the link to Flickr on our blog at http://www.settlecarlislerailoffer.blogspot.com/.
Sending your photos
Attach your photo(s) - up to four can be entered - to your email. Each image must be JPEG format and be no more than 3.0 MB in size. If you have several images at this size, you will need to send a separate email for each entry, as our server will reject attachments over 3 MB.You may digitally edit, improve or alter your photo in any way you like. If people are recognisable in the photograph, you must obtain their consent for the pictures to be entered in the competition and used for promotional purposes, free of copyright. By entering the competition, it is understood permission has been granted. Both amateur and professional photographers can enter.
Competition prizes
- First prize is 4 tickets to a theatre show in West Yorkshire.
- Two second prizes of a Northern Rail Family Day Ticket valid for up to five people.
- Three shopping vouchers worth £20 each
- Ten Family DayRover tickets.
Deadline
The competition closes on Friday 23 March 2012.
Judging and prize draw
Entries should be received by midnight Friday 23 March 2012.
Winners will be selected by Friday 6 April 2012 and notified by email. Prizes will be sent by registered post. The decision of the judges will be final.
The winning photos will be posted on our website.
No cash alternatives for prizes will be offered.
Terms and conditions
As a condition of submission, your photograph(s) will automatically be considered to feature on future promotional materials or displayed on Metro’s or Northern Rail’s web sites and Metro’s Flickr web gallery at www.flickr.com/wymetro
For the avoidance of doubt, if you do not win a prize and your photograph(s) is/are used for promotional purposes then no payment will be made to you. If chosen to appear, your name and caption will appear with the photograph(s) on the website, photograph only on published literature.
By entering this competition you agree to the rules set out in the competition terms and conditions. These are important to ensure the photo(s) you submit are both eligible to win and meet important legal and fair criteria.
Submissions and acceptance
By entering this photo competition, all entrants declare that the photograph(s) submitted is/are their own work and free of any copyright other than their own personal copyright. Metro and Northern Rail make no claims on your copyright. By entering the competition, you agree to grant Metro and Northern Rail a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the submitted photo(s) as we wish, including displays, leaflets, posters, magazines or newspapers.
At the discretion of Metro and Northern Rail, suitable entries received will be displayed on Metro and Northern Rail web sites and Metro’s Flickr web gallery at www.flickr.com/wymetro and possibly used as future promotional material, along with their caption and photographer’s name. If the prizes are not available, substitute prizes at an equal value to the prizes stated in the leaflet will be provided.
This photo competition is not open to any employee of West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, any employee or member of West Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority or any employee of Northern Rail Ltd.
