English National Concessionary Pass: Senior

How to get one and how to use it.

To order your English National Concessionary Pass, you must go in person to one of the following outlets:

  • Post Offices throughout West Yorkshire
  • Metro Travel Centres at
  • Bradford Interchange
  • Halifax Bus Station
  • Huddersfield Bus Station
  • Leeds City Bus Station
  • Ticket Offices at
  • Castleford Bus Station Offices
  • Dewsbury Bus Station
  • Gateway Yorkshire (Leeds Rail Station)
  • Keighley Bus Station
  • First Leeds Travel Shop (Corn Exchange, Leeds)
  • Pontefract Bus Station
  • Wakefield Bus Station

Current Metro Senior Permit Holders

Current Metro Senior Permit holders can use their Permit as proof of eligibility to order a new National Pass as long as their address has not changed.

Applicants must provide one recent full-faced, passport-sized colour photograph. If your address has changed, please also provide a proof of residence in West Yorkshire (such as a council tax bill, bank statement or recent gas/electricity/telephone bill).

Renewal Applicants whose current Metro Senior Permit expires before 31/03/08

To order your new National Pass and to renew your existing Metro Senior

Permit before 31 March 2008, you must provide two recent full-faced, passport-sized colour photographs and show your current permit as proof of eligibility.

If your address has changed, please also provide a proof of residence in West Yorkshire (such as a council tax bill, bank statement or recent gas/electricity/telephone bill).

New Senior Permit Applicants

If you are a first time applicant and you require a new National Pass and a Metro Senior Permit before 31 March 2008, you will need:

  • two recent full-faced, passport-sized colour photographs;
  • proof of identity and age (such as birth certificate, passport or driving licence);
  • proof of residence in West Yorkshire (such as a council tax bill, bank statement or recent gas/electricity/telephone bill).

Metro will send you your new National Concessionary Pass in the post by the end of March 2008,  before the national free off-peak bus scheme begins in April 2008.

Where can I use my new Pass?

Using your New English National Concessionary Pass from April, 2008

For Bus Travel

From April 2008, your English National Concessionary Permit will entitle you to free off-peak local bus travel throughout England.

For West Yorkshire Train Travel

For West Yorkshire residents, your English National Concessionary Pass will also entitle you to train travel within West Yorkshire for just 35p, after 0930 Mondays to Fridays and all day at weekends and public holidays.
