Blind Person's Pass

With the English National Concessionary Pass you can travel free at all times on trains and buses throughout West Yorkshire and free on off-peak local buses throughout England.

‘Blind’ is defined as having a high degree of vision loss; for example, seeing much less than is normal or perhaps seeing nothing at all.

In general terms a person will be eligible if they cannot see (with glasses, if worn) the top letter of the eye test chart used by opticians and doctors, at a distance of 3 metres.

If you are unable to travel conveniently alone, you may be entitled to a special pass entitling a companion to the same concessions when travelling with you in West Yorkshire. This does not need to be the same person for every journey. Your guide or hearing dog can also travel free and there are no restrictions on guide or hearing dogs travelling on the lower deck of the buses.

When applying for the first time you will need to have your application approved by your local Social Services office.
