Whilst Low Moor is still one of Metro's priority locations for the implementation of a new rail station, the results of a recently completed timetabling study reveal that it is no longer possible to accommdate a new rail station at Low Moor without changes to track and signalling capacity or a significant restructuring of the Caldervale timetable. This, in turn, will have performance and reliability implications for the rest of the network.
Currently, Metro is actively involved in discussions with Network Rail in order to ensure that the forthcoming Route Utilisation Strategy assessment will consider options to enable trains to stop at Low Moor. Metro will also continue to press for the necessary infrastructure improvements to be incorporated in Network Rail's renewals programme in order that greater operational flexibility can be achieved to accommodate a new rail station at Low Moor.
