Planning consent has been granted for a brand new six - stand bus station which will replace the existing facilities on the current site. 

In line with Metro’s modern, award-winning bus stations across West Yorkshire, the new bus station will include:

• More comfortable and safer, enclosed waiting areas
• New seating & queuing arrangements
• Central covered night stand area
• Accessibility improvements
• 24 hr CCTV surveillance
• Electronic Information (including real time information displays).

Pedestrian access between the bus station and town will also be improved with new footpaths and crossings.

It is anticipated that work to construct the new bus station will start in 2008, once the essential highway amendments and traffic regulation orders have been obtained.  The new facilities would then become operational towards the end of 2008.
