Investors in People (IiP UK) has today presented Metro, the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, with its Champion status award.
Investors in People Champion status means Metro has been recognised as an employer that has boosted productivity through the way it manages and develops its employees. Champion organisations have to demonstrate consistent commitment to people development as a way of delivering their goals.
As one of just 36 Champion organisations in the UK, Metro will now work with Investors in People to help other employers by sharing its experience and success in the area of people development.
Presenting the award, Graeme Etheridge, IiP UK’s Director of Finance & Planning said, “Thirty-five thousand UK companies are IiP accredited but only 36 are champions and Metro should be applauded for that.
“I detect a real sense of pride around the organisation and Metro’s role as a Champion will be to inspire companies, in the public and private sectors, with that same sense of pride in their work, and the way in which they harness and make the most of their employees’ potential.
Sheena Pickersgill, Metro’s Director of Corporate Services said, “We are very proud to receive Champion status, which recognises our commitment to staff development, and the successes we have achieved as a result.
“As Graeme has said, we now need to share our experience and commitment with other employers and demonstrate the success they can achieve by placing people at the heart of their business."
