David Fuller of Dewsbury is smiling after picking up a cheque for £500 after winning top prize in Metro’s Smile campaign to help West Yorkshire’s over 60s apply for their new English National Concessionary Bus Passes.
The campaign started in July and Mr Fuller is Metro’s August prize draw winner.
Metro’s Chairman Councillor Ryk Downes presented Mr Fuller with his £500 prize said: “It is important that everyone eligible applies for a new pass, even if they only use it for local journeys, because their current Metro Senior, Disabled or Blind Persons Permit will stop being valid from April 2008 when they will be replaced by a new English National Concessionary Pass. I would urge everyone to apply as soon as possible.”
All 350,000 people, aged 60 and over in West Yorkshire and all the county’s 20 to 30 thousand disabled and blind people will need the new English National Concessionary Pass for free local bus travel in West Yorkshire and throughout England from April next year. To help make sure they get them in time, Metro has set up an early application scheme at Bus Station Travel Centres and Post offices throughout the county.
Further prize draws with a top prize of £500 are also being held in September and October.
Metro leaflets containing all this information have been sent to Bus Station Travel Centres, Post Offices and other outlets such as Libraries and details of how to apply can also be found on this site.
