Bradford markets revisited at museum

The historical relevance of Bradford as a market town will be explored at the Bradford Industrial Museum from Saturday 6 December 2008 until Sunday 1 March 2009.

Attendees will gain a fascinating insight into the history of Kirkgate Market and others in the Market Memories Exhibition.

The story begins all the way back in 1251 when Henry III gave Bradford its market charter.

A great number of different locations for outdoor shopping have sprung up since, including Kirkgate Market, which will be documented by the display.

Collections from the museum itself and photographic archives will be used to allow visitors to gain a visual understanding of the market places.

The museum is open every day, except Mondays (Bank Holidays excluded) with doors opening from 10.00am to 5.00pm except for a noon start on Sundays.

No admission fee is charged at the museum, which will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

You can use Metro's Journey Planner to find out how to get to Bradford by public transport.
