Leeds fencing course underway

A new course in the ancient art of fencing is being offered at the Armouries each week until the end of December 2008.

As one of the oldest combat sports in the world, fencing develops speed, skill and dexterity in its participants.

People attending the course will be able to use various types of blade, including foil, sabre and epee.

Through the course, pupils will learn how to improve balance, coordination and flexibility, while also getting fit.

The course is open to all ages and experience and runs every Friday up until 26 December 2008 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

Each individual session is priced at £4, but a six week beginner course can be purchased for the special price of £25.

At the Royal Armouries, people can also view a wide range of objects from military history alongside live re-enactments such as medieval jousting.

You can use Metro's Journey Planner to find out how to get to Leeds by public transport.
