Lightspeed Champion will be performing at St Georges Hall in Bradford on Thursday 29 May, 8:00pm.
Formerly a member of Test Icicles, Devonte Hynes's - whose pseudonym Lightspeed Champion comes from a series of comic strips he doodled as a teenager - new venture could not be further removed from his ex-band's punk and thrash offerings.
Signed to Domino Records, Lightspeed Champion's debut album Falling Off The Lavender Bridge was produced by a member of the Bright Eyes band and is an understated and largely acoustic affair which includes guest performances from members of Bright Eyes, Tilly And The Wall and The Faint.
Since then Devonte Hynes has played on Radio 1, appeared in the annual NME Cool List and performed at the 2008 NME Awards, with a band dressed as the characters from Star Wars.
His Bradford concert will make an enjoyable outing both for fans of his music and those looking to discover something new.
