Audiences can enjoy a cricket-based drama from Wednesday 28 May to Saturday 31 May at the Quarry Theatre in Leeds.
"I've wasted the whole of my life playing this game. It's claimed my knees and it occupies every spare synapse in my brain. I'm not even sure I like it anymore..." says one cricket enthusiast in this new play.
An amateur London cricket team, who love the game far more than their abilities reflect, gather the night before a big game to discuss life.
The play, by English writer Richard Bean, sees team The Nightwatchman prepare for an upcoming game by smoking and drinking tea and chewing over events like love, politics and the leg before wicket law, the cricketing equivalent of the offside rule.
Performed by Headlong Theatre, this quintessentially English play explores the modern British psyche through this much loved game. A funny and touching look at the political and social tensions that underline modern society; this is a play that will delight theatre-goers and cricket fans alike.
