Those looking for escapism may wish to head to the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds from Saturday 19 April to catch a play documenting a Ukrainian man's struggle as he moves to the UK.

Entitled Fast Labour West, the play is set to run until Saturday 17 May in the Playhouse's Courtyard Theatre.

It follows the journey of Victor, a strong-minded man who once had a business, a family and a home in the Ukraine, but is reduced to gutting fish and picking carrots when he moves to Britain.

Not prepared to languish at the bottom of the economic food chain, he decides he will build up a business of his own and challenge the dominance of the gang masters.

Among those starring in the show will be Craig Kelly, known for his performances in Queer as Folk and Clocking Off, among other things.

Since it opened in 1990, the West Yorkshire Playhouse has enjoyed significant success, winning awards for a range of things, from its productions to its customer service.
