A charity walk is set to take place in Huddersfield's Greenhead Park on Saturday 10th May.

Kicking off at 10:00am, the event will see participants follow a designated course over four miles.

It is being organised by the Samaritan's Purse charity in order to raise money for the organisation's Turn on the Tap campaign, which focuses on providing people in the developing world with safe and accessible water.

According to the charity, 1.1 billion individuals worldwide do not have access to this basic amenity.

Through its Turn on the Tap initiative, the Samaritan's Purse provides people in need with assistance in the form of water filters, boreholes and hygiene education, among other things.

The campaign has already raised hundreds of thousands of pounds through fundraising events across the country.

In addition to its work concerning the provision of clean water, the Samaritan's Purse also works to help the victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster.

You can use Metro's Journey Planner to find out how to get to Huddersfield by public transport.
