Wakefield tots get arty

Wakefield Art Gallery hosts art workshops for youngsters until June.

Wakefield Art Gallery is set to host a programme of art workshops for youngsters from Tuesday 2 October.

The sessions, which are intended for two to four-year-olds, will allow children to explore their creative side.

Those who attend Tiny Tuesdays, as the workshops will be known, will be given the opportunity to explore various arty themes including texture, shape and colour.

Activities are set to include painting, printing and drawing.

Tots will be able to explore the gallery's Treasure Box and get messy with a hands-on art activity.

The workshops will run on the first Tuesday of each month until Tuesday 3 June 2008 and booking is recommended.

Wakefield Art Gallery is situated in a late Victorian house and holds a large collection of sculptures, drawings and paintings from a range of artists.

The core of its collection comprises a selection of modern British works.

You can use Metro's Journey Planner to find out how to get to Wakefield by public transport.
