links key locations around Wakefield city centre including Westgate train
station, Kirkgate train station, the bus station, shops and retail parks. This
includes Trinity and The Ridings Centre along with the Ings Road, Cathedral and Westgate
Retail and Leisure Parks.
The service also serves The Hepworth Gallery
at Wakefield Waterfront.
The opening of the new Wakefield Westgate rail station on Sunday 22 December means means a change of the freecitybus route.From Monday 23 December, after travelling up Wakefield’s Westgate, the freecitybus will turn left onto Mulberry Way and along to the new station site where there is a dedicated stop. After pulling out of the station, the service will continue along Mulberry Way and then turn right where it will serve a new stop in front of the Council’s Wakefield One building. The freecitybus then continues back to Westgate, via Drury Lane, where it resumes its current route.

Buses run every 10-12 minutes from
0730 to 1840, Monday to Fridays and between 0830 and 1700 on Saturdays.
All journeys on the Wakefield freecitybus are free. Each vehicle is
fully accessible and can carry one wheelchair at a time.
