Bus Passes

Information about bus passes for the journey to and from school.

Paying a fareMetro issues School Cards and Boarding Cards for travel to and from school. Some pupils are entitled to free travel (see Free Passes below).

If you are not entitled to free travel you may still be able to make savings on school journeys by purchasing a pass from Metro. Please contact Education Transport on
0113 348 11 22 for further details.

Metro also has a range of passes for young people who use public transport outside of school hours.

Lost Passes

If you have lost your School Card or Boarding Card you will need to contact your Local Education Authority.

If you live in Leeds and have lost your School Card or Boarding Card, or you live in Wakefield and have lost your Boarding Card, you can get a replacement by sending the following to Education Transport at Metro.

  • A passport photo
  • Your name, school, date of birth and address
  • A cheque or postal order for £5 payable to 'WYPTE'
  • A self addressed and stamped envelope

Free Passes

Some pupils are entitled to free school travel.

  • children who are under 8 years old and live more than 2 miles from nearest appropriate school.
  • children who are 8-16 years old and live more than 3 miles from nearest appropriate school.
