Accessible Rural Buses

The Rural Transport Section works to reduce social exclusion in isolated parts of West Yorkshire. Our aim is to supply quality bus services that address specific rural access problems and are reliable, comfortable and safe

Many of the new rural bus services have special, customer-focused facilities,  including:  

Easy Access

  • Hand picked small rota of drivers to give that personal touch
  • Bus drivers can be contacted by mobile phone so that passengers can book a diversion or check on the progress of the bus
  • Many rural routes are flexible and passengers can request the bus to divert up to half a mile off route
  • Many drivers are Midas and DDA trained
  • Many of he rural services are operated by low floor, easy access vehicles which have wheelchair facilities
  • Parcel and message facility
